Where is the justice? Really, what kind of society do we live in? How is it a man can be convicted of killing dogs and get sentenced to 2 years
in prison and face financial ruin while someone else can kill a human and get 30 days in jail? Is it just me or is that the most bogus *ish you’ve ever heard!
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a diehard Cleveland Browns fan. As much as we have sucked over the years I have always stayed true; always will. However, wrong is wrong and one of the Browns players, Donte Stallworth, plead guilty to vehicular manslaughter and only got 30 days in jail. Oh, he has to do 1000 hours of community service, his license is suspended forever, and he’ll be on probation for 8 years. Yeah, I know, that’s it. I’m sure there will be a league imposed suspension that will be somewhere between 4-8 games and he’ll be fined. He won’t get paid while suspended but that’s about it. On the other hand, Mr. Vick spent 2 years in prison, is in financial ruin, and has no guarantee that he’ll ever play in the league again. WTF?
Thirty days in jail for killing someone? Taking another human beings life is only worth 30 days in jail and never being able to drive again. Okay, I’ll do some of the math on the second part for you. If he plays out the rest of his contract, about $26 million, he can hire a f**king driver to take him wherever it is he wants to go for the rest of his life! Hell, I know plenty of people who drive without a license, that ain’t *ish! After his suspension he can go back to practice, back to games, back to getting paid while Michael Vick hopes that someone will give him another chance. Mr. Stallworth’s contract hasn’t been voided nor has he been released. Chances are he won’t. The funny thing is, this isn’t the first time this has happened. In 1998, Leonard Little was convicted of the same crime and he got a little stiffer punishment…..90 days in jail. Damn, does the NFL not value human life? Does the legal system value the life of dogs over human beings? Is PETA like the f**king mafia or something, damn!
Maybe I’m just not the avid animal lover. Hell, my dog broke his leg and I was ready for him stop dragging the damn thing around 2 days later. Even if I was the chairman and CEO of PETA I don’t think a canine life is more valuable than a human. What will PETA say about all of this? Will they defend their stance and protest Michael Vick every chance they get? Is there a PETH (People for the Ethical Treatment of Humans) group? Is someone going to protest Browns games and demand that Stallworth be kicked out of the league? I’m almost certain there will be but we won’t hear about it.
I’m not sure what the moral code of the US legal system is but something seems a little backwards. Drunk driving ending in death only gets someone a month in jail while mistreatment of animals gets you at least 2. Hmmmmmm…….Could Mike have cut a deal to settle out of court? Maybe that’s it. Donte did settle for an “undisclosed” amount out of court. Maybe there’s a price for human life and animals are priceless.
Whether they know it or not, these two cats will forever be linked to one another. Damn, I bet Michael Vick is mad as hell!!! He could’ve been hosting MMA Fight to the Death matches and got off with 45 days in jail and some anger management courses. He kills some dogs and now his life is ruined. Okay, okay, okay….if he would’ve run the dogs over while drunk would the outcome have been different?

Side bar…
……Donte Stallworth plays for the Browns (dogs for those of you who know) and Mike Vick killed some. Is it just me or is there a bit of irony in the whole thing?

Sorry Sean, but I can't back you up on this one.
The differences:
Stallworth immediately admitted that he was drunk, he did hit the man, and it was an accident. He plead guilty, cooperated with the courts, and compensated the family financially.
Vick, while he did plead guilty, had multiple counts of dog fighting (vs. Stallworth's single count), illegal gambling, and incidents in 3 different states. Also, he failed a drug test while out on bail.
Not trying to start a war here, just my 2¢.
And also, the Browns is named after the Buckeye's coach - Paul Brown - the "dawg" was just a logo they picked up in the later years. Check out their first mascot - "the brownie elf".

Ironically, I am reading this post and half watching the news. There is a blurb showing President Obama swatting and killing a fly during an interview.
Apparently there is a fly infestation in the White House...Guess who is protesting the treatment of THE FLY!
PETA...yep PETA! They even said that the fly is harmless so the president should leave them alone.
I'm not sure I could be laughing harder right now. That is the MOST ridiculous thing I've heard this week. Way over the crazy-meter on that one.
I totally dig that Libby but just because he admitted it does it make it better. Is it alright to admit do drinking and killing someone? Mike was dragged through the ringer because of hit past transgressions and the multiple counts filed against him. I get that part. I just don't get how all of that can get more punishment than taking a human life. Failed drug test vs failed sobriety test? After he was found guilty, Mike cooperated with the courts and accepted financial responsibility. Doesn't that count for something? I don't know, I guess I feel you. I just think he got off too easy.
BTW....love the Cleveland thing. Your mother is awesome for making you know your history. Yes, the name is derived from the Great Paul Brown but they couldn't very well strike fear in the hearts of their opponents as an elf. That thing looked like "The Great Gazoo" from the Flintstones!
Too funny! I definitely agree with your point on the justice, but hey, it's the American way these days! (Sorry you can't see me rolling my eyes straight to the back of my head.)
You're so right about him getting off easy though. Just another day in the life of the rich in court. Ugh.
You know where I stand on this...many jump to say that Stallworth admitted guilt and there was no evil intent in his actions...well guess what? When you drink and hop your ass behind the wheel...you know it is illegal...and the fact that someone died due to his drunk ass driving is beyond words. The two cases are very different, but one thing stands...only one of the two took a human life, but he is the one that still has a job and no jail time. WTF???
